Development Opportunities

Bitesize Learning

We know that sometimes all you need is a quick reminder of how to do the many tasks you undertake in your day to day role.  We are aiming to build a series of ‘bitesize’ learning opportunities to support this, and would be keen to hear from you about the sort of things you’d like to see included. So far we are looking into bitesize appraisals, self-awareness and courageous conversations.. please do get in touch with your ideas of what you’d like to see included to dchst.leadingforimprovement@nhs.net or contact Linda Kiernan on 07917 201565 to chat.

Creating Leadership Connections

The Leadership Development team are keen to set up a forum for individuals who are newly appointed leaders, or feel that they are still in the early stages of their role within the Trust.  We are looking to link in with individuals who would be interested in shaping the network and working with the leadership development team to get this up and running.  If you feel this might be of interest, or you would like to find out more, please contact Linda Kiernan, Leadership Development Training Manager, linda.kiernan@nhs.net or mob 07917 201565.

Developing compassionate, inclusive and collaborative leaders within DCHS.

Attendance at all masterclasses is required for new people managers or managers who have never previously completed any training in these areas.  If you have attended these masterclasses in the past you will not be required to attend again unless the need for a refresher has been identified.

At DCHS we aspire to build a consistent and embedded approach to developing our leaders. The Leading for Improvement strategy has been designed to ensure we have the management and leadership capabilities across the trust by offering a series of leadership and management programmes. This series will develop the knowledge and understanding of our leaders to support in the day-to-day functioning activities as well as developing leaders who can role model compassionate, inclusive and collaborative behaviours for improvement.

In light of the unprecedented challenges currently being faced by our Service, we have taken the decision to postpone our face to face leadership development training offer.

We will continue to offer a limited number of sessions by Skype, but recognise that operational requirements will need to be prioritized.

Face to face sessions will be made available via ESR, with additional provision to ensure space for those wishing to rebook as required, once the situation has settled.
We recognise that many of you will be dealing with some real challenges, both personal and professional as we go through this period, so please do make use of the support that is available to you via wellbeing team, coaches, and Resolve.

More information will be available via the Team Brief but please do contact us at dchst.leadingthroughimprovement@nhs.net if we can be of any further assistance.
