News and Notices

Goodbye Kate and Gill, and thank you for your combined 77 years service to the NHS!

The Dales Community and Ward Therapy Team would like to wish Kate Stanyon and Gill Richardson all the best for happy and fulfilled retirements. Between them Kate and Gill have given 77 years of service to the NHS.

Gill Richardson has just achieved her 40 years’ long service award in the NHS. She’s a professional lead physiotherapist for Derbyshire Dales and High Peak. Gill has worked within DCHS (and its previous names) for 32 years, 29 of them on Winster, Birchover and Oker Wards at the Whitworth Hospital. She has been a team leader for physios at Newholme and Whitworth Hospitals and also a senior physiotherapist/deputy manager in Whitworth out-patient physiotherapy department as well during this time. Gill has given much support to many of us during this time and she will be greatly missed by staff and patients.

Kate Stanyon has given 37 years’ service to the NHS, 23 of them within this Trust. Kate joined the Trust in 1995 to head up a Stroke Therapy Project in the Dales. She then developed a role as the first Stroke Development Co-ordinator for the organisation before becoming one of the founding members of the Dales Assessment and Rehabilitation team (DART) as the only physiotherapist in the team at that time. The team has since evolved into the Dales Community Rehabilitation team and expanded somewhat since then. She has a wealth of rehabilitation, physiotherapy and local knowledge and she’s been a great support to patients and staff over the years and she too will be sorely missed by patients and staff.
