Whether you are a regular exerciser or are looking to start a new routine we all need a little helping hand to keep motivated from time to time. It can be a challenge to fit in a visit to the gym, a swim or an exercise class, it can also be quite expensive and at this time of year additional expense is not what you need!
There are lots of ways you can increase your movement and exercise without spending a penny! Simple steps like taking the stairs instead of the lift, parking further away in the car park or going for a walk can quickly help to increase your activity.
We are promoting the benefits of taking a lunchtime walk. Walking has many physical and mental benefits including reducing risk of heart disease, boosting immune system, increased self-esteem and better sleep.
Another option is to exercise from home. There are lots of apps available to download which take a user through a series of simple exercises each day. A particular favourite is the 7 minute workout app which allows you to start out small and increase the length and intensity of your workout as you progress. The joy of exercising at home is that you can do it at a time to suit you and it is completely free.
Of course, for some the gym may be the preferred place to exercise. Here at DCHS we are looking to access a number of discounted gym memberships in our locality. We hope to have details to share soon.
