Dignity in care workshops

We are working closely with Derbyshire County Council to run a series of workshops about the Dignity in Care Award. The sessions are aimed at anyone who wants to know more about the award and staff who are applying for the award in their services. There will also be an opportunity for colleagues to ask questions and get support with the Dignity Award application paperwork. I would be grateful if this could be communicated to all staff asap.

Dignity in Care workshops will be held as follows and Chris Whittaker (from DCC) will be facilitating:

Monday 19 September 2016

Babington, meeting room 2

Tuesday 18 October 2016

Claycross, meeting room

Tuesday 22 November 2016

Newholme, Development Centre

Tuesday 10 January 2017

Babington, meeting room 2

Also we are encouraging staff to sign up as Dignity Champions. More information about registration can be found online.

By signing up as a champion you are committing to:

  • Standing up and challenging disrespectful behaviour
  • Acting as a good role model for treating people with respect, dignity and compassion (particularly those who are less able to stand up for themselves)
  • Speaking up about dignity to improve the way services are organised and delivered
  • Influencing and informing colleagues
  • Listening and understanding the views of others

Staff who register are asked to confirm this by emailing the Patient Experience Team this is so we can keep a log of champions and arrange for dignity badges to be sent out.
