2020 is the first ever global Year of the Nurse and Midwife!
The Year of the Nurse and Midwife is our chance to showcase and celebrate the professions. Nursing and midwifery touch all of our lives at some point: we all have a connection, and we want everybody to be involved. This year is our time to reflect on the skills, commitment and expert clinical care nurses and midwives bring, and the impact they make on the lives of so many. It’s also an opportunity to say thank you to the professions; to showcase their diverse talents and expertise; and to promote nursing and midwifery as careers with a great deal to offer.
We have got lots of exciting things planned for the Year of the Nurse:
- Monthly short videos with registered nurses (from across the nursing family within DCHS) why they became nurses and what it means to them
- A Nursing Star of the month chosen from that month’s ‘Shout Out’ nominations and announced on social media
- It is proposed that we will develop an opportunity for two Chief Nurse Fellows. This is a fabulous opportunity for two colleagues to ‘make things better’ by developing their project management skills and influence service management. The opportunity would be open to one Band 5 nurse and one band 5 AHP from across all DCHS services. More info will follow!
- Save the date! The Celebrating Nursing and Midwifery Conference will return again this year on 16 October 2020. After last year’s successful conference we will once again be hosting this conference on behalf of Joined up Care Derbyshire.
We know that lots of you will be planning your own celebrations too so please get in touch to let us know what you have planned!
