Pretty Muddy 5K fundraiser
On 27 June 2020 some members of the school age immunisation team will be getting into their sports gear to get muddy and have fun while raising money towards Ovarian Cancer Research. The event is The Pretty Muddy 5k which will take place at Markeaton Park in Derby and they will run under the team name 'Big Knickers'.
In August of last year Caroline Laight, who is a member of the team based at Repton Health Centre, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Caroline has just completed her preventative chemotherapy treatment after having surgery. Caroline has been amazing and with the help and support of her family and friends she has been able to get through to completing her treatment despite the emotional and physical demands. Caroline is now ready to take on her next challenge by doing The Pretty Muddy 5K to help other people faced with this devastating diagnosis. Her aim is to raise much needed money towards researching further treatment options and also to raise awareness of the symptoms so that people can get their diagnosis early as she did and her colleagues will be by her side for support.
If anyone else would like to register and join in they would be most welcome. The race we are entering is at 10.15am via the link here.
