Staff swab testing
The process for staff swabbing has changed to make it easier for you to arrange your own test. From Monday 22 June Trust referrals for swabbing will be switched off and all colleagues who require a Covid swab will need to book a test through the national self-referral Government Gateway.
You should arrange a swab if you have Covid-19 symptoms. If a member of you household has symptoms, they are also eligible to be tested.
- A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.
As soon as your symptoms start you must inform your line manager and keep them updated when you receive your test result.
When you register for a test please select an appointment at a test centre, unless you are unable to travel by car in which case please request a home testing kit. You can refer others, with their permission, if they are unable to complete this process themselves.
