Security alert - phishing texts
Following on from a few incidents, where suspicious text SMS messages have been received, staff are reminded to be extra vigilant.
Staff have received a few text SMS messages on work phones stating;
"that I have just received an automated message on my work mobile from the mobile number of 01332 871817, claiming to be HMRC. Asking me to press 1 immediately as there is a fraud case against me and if I did not take action then I will be arrested."
Or an another example;
"We would like to inform you that you have been recorded as leaving your home on 3 occasions yesterday. A fine of £35 has been added to your gov.uk account. For further information please visit gov.uk/coronavirus-penalty-payment-tracking."
This is a phishing text SMS scam. Please do not respond to this text SMS message.
1) Do not respond any text messages SMS scams you do not recognise or click any link within the SMS.
2) Block this number from your phone.
3) Delete the text message from your phone.
4) Delete the message again from your deleted items box.
