Today marks the final day for Baron Ward before it closes...
A huge thank you to everyone on Baron Ward, what an amazing team. Very sad day to see the ward close but we must remember the many years of amazing service and say thank you on behalf of the people of Derbyshire
To take the words from Tracy’s Friday email: “The Baron Ward team have been absolutely amazing, focused on providing fantastic care during a long period of personal uncertainty for them as we’ve worked to support them into new roles across our services. On top of the anxieties, uncertainties and delays in working through this they’ve coped magnificently with some unprecedented unforeseen challenges too – there are not many ward teams anywhere who have had to up sticks and relocate a ward and all its patients in 24 hours – twice! Covid-19 led to Baron Ward being relocated from Babington to ICH in late March to concentrate staffing and resources and allow for expansion if and when required and this was after an unplanned short move back in Nov 2019 as a result of the significant flooding on the site.”
“The team has really exemplified our DCHS values in how they’ve pulled together, unflappable in any crisis and always looking out for each other as well as their patients. Many, many thanks to them all and to Sarah Youd, the Matron, and especially to Sue Keegan, who will be moving to a new role as ward sister on Butterley Ward after 18 years at Babington. Her knowledge and role in supporting the whole team has been invaluable and will continue to be a huge asset to the Trust. All the very best to the whole team in their new roles over the coming months.”
