Happy retirement Shirley Ford!
Shirley started her NHS career as a secretary in General Practice in 1989 at Ripley Medical Centre. The surgery was then at the home of the GP, where Shirley would type letters with a manual type writer, sitting on the floor in front of the AGA!
Shirley soon became deputy Practice Manager and has seen the practice through lots of change, including the move to its current site and joining DCHS .
She has also had personal struggles with ill health, life changing diagnoses and an on-going long term condition. Through this time she has been keen to attend work, being off only for hospital appointments and treatment, and lately has continued working despite shielding.
Shirley is retiring at the end of December after 31 years of NHS service. The team at Ripley Medical Centre would like to say a huge thank you for her remarkable contributions. Good luck and thank you Shirley!
