Forgotten your password to your laptop or PC?
It can be frustrating if you have forgotten the password to your PC, but a solution already exists that allows you to reset your password, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year, without having to contact the IT support desk.
To enable this service please enrol by simply selecting three security questions and answers – if you have not already done this, you should do this now, even if you haven’t forgotten your password. Please follow this link** to enrol and use either the video guide or instruction manual to assist you.
**You must be on the N3 (secure) network or the VPN to access this link.
At the Windows log in screen you should already see a “Rest Password/Unlock Account” option underneath the box you type your password into. If and when you forget your password, click on this and follow the onscreen instructions. Here you will be prompted with one of your pre-set questions and asked to supply the appropriate answer.
Whilst this service is currently only usable on devices with a physical connection to the network, we are considering extending the solution to mobile devices in the future, so you should set up your security questions now.
This new service is part of a series of initiatives from our IT service partner, NHS Arden & GEM CSU, designed to improve your IT user experience. Every year over 13,000 calls for password resets are made to the IT service desk, and by having the ability to reset your own password means less disruption to you and delays in care to our patients , allowing Arden & GEM to divert more assistance to help other more complex technical IT enquiries.
If you have any difficulty registering or logging in to update your details, please contact us by logging a service request via the IT Self-Service Portal.
