Understanding the needs of LGBT+ people – 7 June to 15 July
Throughout Pride month, Public Health England Yorkshire and Humber Centre are hosting a series of free webinars which bring together public health professionals, researchers and voluntary sector employees working in LGBT+ health.
These webinars will explore why LGBT+ people report disproportionately poorer health outcomes than the wider population and worse experiences of healthcare across the life course. They will also provide an opportunity to showcase best practice and look at how we can foster new ways of working to address and improve LGBT+ health inequalities.
These events are open to professionals from across the health, social care and VCSE sectors with a responsibility for addressing LGBT+ health inequalities, including Local Authorities, primary care services, policy makers, commissioners and NHS trusts.
NHS Virtual Pride
The NHSE LGBT+ staff network is collaborating with the NHSE People Directorate to organize NHS Virtual Pride, taking place in September. They are looking for volunteers to help organize- as much or as little time as can be given. If you are able to support with ideas, content gathering and making the second NHS Virtual Pride a success please email email@example.com.
Pride in practice LGBT patient experience survey
This is the latest in a series of surveys that the LGBT Foundation have carried out since 2013. The survey is an important tool for helping understand the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people accessing primary care - GP practices, dental practices, community pharmacies and optical practices. This year’s survey will run until 31 July 2021.
If you identify as LGBT yourself then please visit: www.lgbt.foundation/pipsurvey2021 and fill in the survey. All people completing the survey will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win £200 in shopping vouchers.
If you’re not LGBT, please share the information through your networks to help reach a wide range of LGBT people.
We know that certain communities such as people of colour, older people, and people of faith are often under-represented in surveys such as this. At LGBT Foundation, we don’t believe any group is ‘hard to reach’ just that sometimes we’re not asking in the right places. If you have any suggestions for how we can ensure our survey is as inclusive as possible then we’d love to hear from you.
If you have any other comments questions or queries about the survey, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! You can contact us on pip@LGBT.foundation.
