Congratulations to Jon Sanderson on his epic mountain challenge!
Congratulations to DCHS general manager Jon Sanderson who conquered the Welsh 3000s at the weekend in an epic endurance test lasting 20 hours!
The Welsh 3000s are described as more strenuous than the Three Peaks Challenge as competitors ascend the summits of all 15 of the 3000ft summits in north Wales in one continuous mountaineering expedition.
Here's Jon pictured at sunrise on one of the most knife-edge parts of the challenge, the Crib Goch ridge.
Jane Warder, Assistant Director for integrated community services, said: "While some of us may have eaten too much and deconditioned during lockdown, Jon has been building his fitness after an injury earlier in the year.
Setting off at 02:30 on Saturday morning he navigated for a team of friends who made it round the Welsh 3000s, which I believe is over 30 miles of severe ups and downs. It took them 15 hours 50 minutes from the first summit to the last and 20 hours in total so they didn't make the pub at the end but he says it was a brilliant day. Awesome achievement and great photo."
