Have you been affected by a death by suicide?
Did you know that every 90 seconds someone in this country will take their own life? That could be someone you know, or love, or care for. World Suicide Prevention Day is on Friday 10 September and, as part of DCHS’s commitment to the National Suicide Prevention Alliance, we’re encouraging services across DCHS to promote suicide awareness.
Please think about what your service could do to raise awareness, as well as to share with your patients and the general public some of the fantastic resources and support that are available to anyone who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts.
In past years, some services have put up displays in reception areas or other public spaces, and other services have shared resources at interactive events, such as school and college open days. You may also want to consider contributing to wider suicide awareness initiatives within Derby and Derbyshire that are happening this year on or around World Suicide Prevention Day (including at football matches around the county).
