Help us wish Mary Heritage luck in her new job
Many of you will know that Mary Heritage, our assistant director for AHPs and patient experience, is leaving us for pastures new on 31st October 2021 after 35 years in the NHS.
Mary has secured an exciting new position at the University of Lincoln leading the development of a new course to train speech and language therapists, thereby supporting future generations of the NHS. She has been a valued colleague, making a huge contribution to DCHS and local predecessor organisations. Mary has successfully led the AHP agenda for 8 years now, acting as a respected clinical leader in the field. She has also driven our efforts to support carers and volunteers while providing ongoing leadership for the patient experience team. Prior to that Mary led our high-performing speech and language therapy service across Derby and Derbyshire. Mary is midway through her term of office as Chair of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, and will continue in this role alongside her new employment.
I know many of you will join me in saying that we will miss her as a colleague and a friend. We will be taking time over the next few weeks to wish her well for the future and thank her for everything she’s done for the people of Derby and Derbyshire. These are big shoes to fill, and we intend to begin the recruitment process for Mary’s replacement in September/October. I’ll keep you posted as we move forward with that.
Mary will be organising a virtual drop-in on MS Teams on the 28 September 2021 for colleagues to have the opportunity to say their goodbyes to her personally.
