Confronting Hate Crime Conference - register today

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust will be hosting their first ever Confronting Hate Crime Conference on Monday 11 October 2021 between 9.30am to 2.00pm via MS Teams.

This is an opportunity during Hate Crime Awareness Week to come together to hear about and discuss the drivers of hate crime in the region and its impact.

LGBT Poet Laurent will be opening the conference alongside fantastic and engaging speakers including Hart Gables, Northumbria Police, Crown Prosecution Service and Show Racism the Red Card.

The session will end with keynote speaker, Smajo Beso, sharing his experience having lived through the most extreme consequences of hate. Smajo is a survivor of the Bosnian Genocide who arrived in the North East at 9 years old in 1994.

Speakers will also be sharing strategies to challenge and overcome hate crime whilst outlining the reporting process for those who witness, or are targets of, a hate incident.
