UTCs in the spotlight during health takeover on Radio Derby

The health takeover on BBC Radio Derby all last week included a report from inside Ilkeston UTC and gave a real insight into the amazing service which all our urgent treatment centres provide across Derbyshire.

Throughout the whole of Andy Twigge’s show on 14 October, the chat returned several times to the UTCs and included Andy’s own experience of using the NHS 111 service and receiving an appointment for his bad back at Ilkeston UTC, which he described as a fabulous place.

Scroll to 1:22:38 to hear our own Julie Shackleton, deputy clinical Lead for Ripley and Ilkeston UTCs,  being interviewed by roving reporter Miranda Stockwell. It includes a chat with a patient who said: “I’ve never had a bad experience here; there is very little in the way of waiting…. then you get excellent treatment.”

Later in the show, scroll to 2:39:29, you can hear Neil Jones from Ripley’s UTC describing the range of care available at all our four UTCs and afterwards listen to radio presenter Andy Twigge’s own experience of care within the UTC service, which he accessed as a direct result of learning about the service from the health and social care takeover reports on his own radio station.

Great coverage for a great service!
