World Antimicrobial Awareness Week - 18-24 November 2021
World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) (18-24 November 2021), European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD) (18 November 2021) and Antibiotic Guardian (AG) Campaign
The World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2021 (WAAW) World Antibiotic Awareness Week and European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD) aims to increase awareness of global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and to encourage best practices for using antimicrobials responsibly among the general public, health workers and policy makers, to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.
This year the focus for WAAW and EAAD in England will be on health and social care workers, as well as patients who have been prescribed antibiotics with the themes of ‘Antimicrobials: handle with care’ and ‘Spread Awareness, Stop Resistance’.
Antibiotic Guardian is a campaign run by Public Health England and a range of partners. You can play your part by becoming an antibiotic guardian or renewing your pledge as an antibiotic guardian at www.antibioticguardian.com and choosing one simple pledge about how you’ll make better use of antibiotics and help stop these vital medicines from becoming obsolete.
