New contract for the Derbyshire Dementia Support Service
Making Space, a national charity, has been successful in winning the new contract to deliver the Derbyshire Dementia Support Service. This means that from 1 December 2016, Making Space will take over responsibility for delivering this service from the Alzheimer’s Society.
Making Space is a national charity providing health and social care services for adults with mental health conditions. They have been providing the Dementia Support Service in Derby city since 2011.
This decision is the result of a competitive procurement process led by Derbyshire County Council in conjunction with the Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Groups. This decision is in no way a reflection of the quality of the service provided by Alzheimer’s Society. Derbyshire County Council is proud of the work that the Alzheimer’s Society has achieved across Derbyshire over the past few years.
Please be assured that both Alzheimer’s Society and Making Space will do everything they can to ensure that there is a smooth transition for the service. Please continue to access support and groups in the same way you do now and be assured that the service will continue to be delivered.
Further details on the new service will be in the weekly email in due course.
