Could you be a school governor?
Two North East Derbyshire Primary Schools are each seeking suitable people to join their Governing Boards.
The schools are Hodthorpe Primary School (near Whitwell/Creswell) and Langwith Bassett Primary School (near Shirebrook/Bolsover).
The role of Governor is a voluntary one, and we are keen to attract people in the community who can bring energy, experience and fresh ideas.
The role which can be very rewarding and provides you with the opportunity to:
- make a difference to how well schools are run
- help raise standards
- do something positive for the next generation
- serve the local community
- Use your existing skills in a new context and learn new ones
Governing Boards meet at least once a term, usually after school or in the early evening. In addition, Governors contribute to relevant Committee meetings, carry out visits to school and attend training.
People with an interest and a willingness to learn and contribute would be very welcome applicants. Induction, training and mentoring are provided as required.
