Staff vigilance warning following incident at a reception desk
All staff are being reminded about basic security vigilance after a woman approached the reception desk at the Merlyn Vaz Health Centre in Leicester, asking to use a computer so that she could look up details for a patient she had to visit. The woman had no identification but said she would use her smart card to access the information. The woman left after the request was refused.
Staff should always check an individual’s ID, ask who they are and where they are from. All staff should be wearing an ID badge at work but if not then do not give them access unless they can be verified. If they do have ID verify it is them on the picture and make sure they sign in. If there is any suspicious activity then report it via DATIX and consider letting colleagues know.
