National Carers Week

As part of National Carers Week this week, DCHS has launched a family-centred care project designed to raise awareness of the role of carersaming our 4,500 NHS staff. It will also help patients and carers themselves to recognise the role they provide and tap into the support available, inlcuding from Derbyshire Carer's Assosiation, http://www.derbyshirecarers.co.uk/. Trust chairman Prem Singh, who has championed the role of young carers across the country, said: "Carers play a huge part not only in supporting their loved ones, but also in the Health and Care System as a whole. We must threfore endeavour to do our part in supporting them in turn". A debate in the House of Commons is due to take place today on the role of carers in Britain. People are being encouraged to add their voices to the debate via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/carersweek
