Security alert: arson attack in Stoke-on-Trent
Staff are reminded to be extra vigilant in the wake of the arson attack at The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM), Stoke-on-Trent.
Staff and patients, some of whom were still in their beds, were forced to wait outside Royal Stoke University Hospital following the fire and Staffordshire Police say they have arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with the attack on the suspicion of committing arson with intent to endanger life.
The fire broke out at the hospital’s main building at around 6pm and the patients had to be temporarily evacuated from the nearby A&E department.
Staff are reminded to be extra vigilant and to challenge any persons who are not wearing ID badges or they do not recognise within secure non patient areas.
All DCHS staff are reminded to carry and wear the Trust photo identification so please only allow people with this identification to be in secure areas.
