New Blue Medicine Disposal Unit
Clincal Staff Please Note
DCHS now uses a cardboard medicine disposal box in place of yellow rigid sharps containers. Yellow boxes can still be used for small amount of non-hazardous medicinal waste but for larger amounts of medicinal waste, or medicinally contaminated packaging, for example, out of date stocks, returns, medicinally contaminated containers, i.e. blister strips, bottles, tubes etc. the new cardboard blue bio bin should be used. Please click on link below to find more details. This box is not suitable for sharps waste, for which yellow rigid sharps containers should be used.
This link shows how to order from NHS Supply Chain with correct NHS cat no. Please click on ‘Blue BIO-bin’ for more details. Thirty litre container appears to be most suitable for DCHS wards , departments. If you require any further information please contact Sid Siddiqui Sid.Siddiqui@nhs.net
