St Oswalds on Friday 6 October
St Oswald’s Hospital is hosting a community celebration morning on Friday 6 October for local residents and staff to discuss ideas for bringing a greater range of activities into the hospital’s main reception area.
At the same time a Macmillan coffee morning, live music, information stalls, cake sale, best decorated cake competition and free Tai Chi taster sessions will also be taking place in the hospital’s reception area as part of the celebration morning, between 10am and 12pm (midday). Everyone is welcome.
Seeking views and feedback from residents and hospital attenders on how to make best use of the hospital’s large reception area as a focal point for more community-focused activity in future will be a key part of the morning.
Jane Hopkins, Commissioning Manager for South Dales and South Derbyshire Places with NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), will be in attendance to canvass people’s views and talk about some ideas currently under discussion for a social hub in the reception area.
Jane said: "We are very keen to talk to people who visit or use the hospital to ask what they’d like included as part of a proposed social hub, and share potential ideas, in the reception area.”
Pat Arnold, site manager for St Oswald’s Hospital, which is run by Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We are combining our annual Macmillan coffee morning with a wider celebration of the hospital in the community, to coincide with our trust’s first ever Community Week.
"We have KSax joining us to provide an array of saxophone music, there will be information stands and one of our very own staff providing Tai Chi taster sessions. It will be great to see everyone getting involved and inviting family, friends and patients to come along.”
All the activities for St Oswald’s Hospital community celebration take place from 10am until 12pm on Friday 6 October in the hospital’s main reception area. Updates about this and all the other events organised for our first ever Community Week are posted on Twitter #DCHSCommunityWeek.
