East Midlands Ambulance Service - patient luggage
The EMAS Patient Transport Services ambulance crews are only able to take one bag of patient’s belongings, any medication (including vital equipment such as portable oxygen) and a mobility aid – eg walking frame or wheelchair. They are unable to take multiple bags of belongings as they are not able to safely secure them on their vehicles and this becomes a risk to both patients and to their crews.
If a patient has an excessive amount of luggage or equipment, alternative arrangements will need to be made by the patient or the hospital/clinic which has booked their patient transport.
Assistance dogs will be allowed to travel on vehicles free of charge.
