Important: Christmas bank payroll
There is a major national upgrade to ESR over the Christmas period which will involve downtime of the whole system between 12pm Wednesday 27th December 2017 and 8am Tuesday 2nd January 2018. This will have an impact on the weekly (bank) payroll normally paid on 29th December. It means that it will not be possible to process a payroll in that week therefore 2 weeks will need to be paid the following week which is 5th January. Unfortunately this is not within our control and all Trusts who run a weekly payroll will be affected.
Please be advised that this will NOT impact the calculation of tax of NI as both weeks will be calculated separately.
The following shows the weekly bank pay arrangements over the Christmas period –
Pay day – 22nd December 2017
Process as normal, shifts for week ending 17th December must be finalised by 12.00 midday on Monday 18th December and payment will be made on Friday 22nd December.
Pay day – 29th December 2017
No payroll this week.
Pay day – 5th January 2018
2 weeks will be paid this week, for shifts worked week ending 24th and 31st December. All shifts must be finalised by 10.00 on Tuesday 2nd January 2018.
Please note that these 2 weeks will be processed separately and therefore will not adversely impact on any tax or national insurance deducted.
Note to managers
It is important that all shifts are finalised by the dates shown above in order for them to be paid. Payment can only be processed once shifts are finalised and if this runs over into the next payroll period it may cause financial detriment to the employee.
Also please ensure that any bank workers that are working for you over the Christmas period are aware of the above arrangements.
We thank everyone for their patience and understanding on this essential upgrade that needs to take place. Please continue to book yourself bank shifts in the usual way.
