Patient Safety Thermometer
In response to operational teams requesting a reduction in bureaucratic reporting, we have made a decision to cease monthly Patient Safety Thermometer audits and reporting.
Up until recently, this has been a nationally mandated report, however, recent guidance is that we can choose if we continue to report on this or not.
We have given this careful consideration and feel confident that we already collect robust information regarding the four elements of the patient safety thermometer pressure ulcers, falls, catheter-related infections and deep vein thrombosis on an individual incident case basis which provides a rich source of patient safety information for further improvement.
On this basis, we will be ceasing the monthly audits and data collection with effect from April 2018 and hope that the reduction in time for this activity will be welcomed by operational teams.
