New safeguarding policy on missed appointments

Our safeguarding team has developed a new policy (available in the policies section on this site) to help care teams when patients don’t attend for appointments. The policy looks at situations in which patients are not brought or don’t attend for appointments or where staff are unable to get access to see patients. The policy helps professionals to consider risks, vulnerabilities, safeguarding concerns and what reasonable adjustments may be required to support a child or adult to have their health needs met.

If you have any questions about using Video Consultation with patients, or would like to know more about getting the best out of video consultation, please contact Hannah Wild hannah.wild@nhs.net. Hannah is leading a project to ensure all clinical staff feel equipped to use video to provide high quality patient care (where appropriate). She is writing a guide, covering all aspects of video consultation and aims to launch this in January. After this there will be training sessions available for added support.
