With Kirsteen Farrar retiring at the end of the August, we’ve been working with the Staff Forum to find a worthy successor as our new freedom to speak up guardian. We’re delighted to announce that Jackie Rawlings has been appointed to this role and will be a real asset, given her vast experience and strong organisational knowledge. Jackie’s values are absolutely in line with The DCHS Way and we’re confident that she’ll help DCHS continue to be an open, transparent and excellent place to work. Jackie takes on this role alongside her position as general manager/deputy assistant director within Integrated Community Services.

After a national recruitment process we have announced that Melanie Curd, currently Kirsteen’s deputy, has been appointed to be her successor. Candidates attended a comprehensive assessment day, supported by staff and public governor colleagues, executive and non-executive directors. Their involvement ensured that a wide range of perspectives were represented in appointing the best candidate. Melanie will be a real asset in the role and will help us continue to streamline and strengthen our governance approach over the coming years.

The rumours are true! Thanks to grant funding we have been able to procure a water bottle for every DCHS staff member, just in time for the heatwave! Keep an eye on social media and My Download for when you can expect yours. We are working through sites as we speak and will be delivering via site walk-arounds and through your receptions.
