Derbyshire LGBT+ Celebrates Black History Month
Derbyshire LGBT+ are proud to announce a free event to celebrate Black History Month.
On the 31st October, Blaise, a social support group based at Derbyshire LGBT+ for LGBT+ people from all nations, will be hosting a talk from Greg Pickup looking at black and ethnic minority LGBT+ history in Derbyshire as part of the Other Stories Project.
Ian Robson, CEO of Derbyshire LGBT+ said “It’s hugely important to us as the only LGBT+ support and advocacy charity for Derbyshire to celebrate Black History Month. So often history is whitewashed, and notable events and individuals are overlooked, leading to a biased view of our county’s history. Anyone LGBT+ from a black or ethnic minority background is welcome with us for support and to connect with others through Blaise, which meets fortnightly. I look forward to this event celebrating black LGBT+ history in Derbyshire.”
The evening will be held at Derbyshire LGBT+, 7 Bramble Street, Derby DE1 1HU on 31st October 7-9pm, all welcome. Interested parties can contact Derbyshire LGBT+ for more details on 01332 207704.
