Launch of 2017 HIV campaign: TEST. TREAT. PROTECT on Friday 17 Nov
Our 2017 HIV campaign: TEST. TREAT. PROTECT launches on Friday 17th November. This is to coincide with the start of National HIV Testing Week on Saturday 18th November and will encompass World AIDS Day on December 1st.
The aim of the campaign is to encourage more people to get tested for HIV. But why?
Because it is estimated that around 1 in 8 people who are HIV+ do NOT know that they are. This massively increases the risk of HIV transmission. The earlier people can get tested, the more effective the treatment, which is now so advanced that people living with HIV and on treatment can get their viral loads down to an undetectable level, which means they will NOT pass on the HIV virus.
We know that the combination of regular testing, HIV treatment and condom use is the key to winning the fight against HIV.
We now offer free and confidential HIV home testing kits to residents of Derbyshire and Derby city available on-line through www.test.hiv, as well as HIV testing in all clinics.
We have developed a YouTube clip starring our very own Gary Woodhouse to encourage people to test, get treatment and use condoms.
We can stop HIV, but it takes each of us to make it happen.
Thank you for your support.
