We were recently told about a brilliant initiative by Care Coordinators Alison Goodrum and Micheala Kirkman, who have organised an on-going coffee morning for patients and carers for Jessop Medical Practice and Ivy Grove Surgery.
The first “Church Farm” Coffee Morning was held on Thursday 14th December between 10-12pm at Church Farm Primary Care Centre in Ripley and was a huge success. Tea, coffee, biscuits and mince pies were served and there were representatives from different services to advise and support those who attended. This included the Fire Service and representatives from Mental Health Teams.
The hope is that this regular event will become a "hub" for patients to come and find out information about the local area and the services and organisations that are available for them.
The feedback from those that attended was really positive and led to onward referrals into health, social care and other alternative services to support these individuals.
Integrated Community Team Leader, Fee Buswell-Marsh, says:
'Both Alison and Micheala are passionate and committed in their roles and this is just another example of an initiative they have developed to support the patients at their practices.'
We'd like to congratulate Alison and Michaela on their great work and look forward to hearing about the on-going success of the coffee mornings!
